# Note #006: Jake Hall (Freshman Flamethrower)

New Mexico basketball player and Mountain West Freshman of the Year **Jake Hall** explored the transfer portal after his first year with the Lobos, but elected to remain at the university for the 2026-27 season. As a **freshman** in 2025-26, Hall averaged **16.4 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 1.6 APG**, and hit a remarkable **117 three-pointers**. 

The other **three** NCAA Division I men's players, since **1980-81**, who averaged at least **16** PPG, **3** RPG, **1.5** APG, and hit **115+ threes** in their **freshman** season:  
  
**Sorted by 3PM (descending)**  
Antoine Davis (2018-19) - **26.1 PPG**, 3.1 RPG, 3.6 APG, **132/347** 3P/3PA (38.0%)  
Stephen Curry (2006-07) - 21.5 PPG, **4.6 RPG**, 2.8 APG, 122/299 3P/3PA **(40.8%)**  
Trae Young (2017-18) - **27.4 PPG**, 3.9 RPG, **8.7 APG**, 118/328 3P/3PA (36.0%)  
  
Hall did have the best **3PT%** of the bunch (117/267 = 43.8%), but on less volume.

Hall was **one** of **five** NCAA Division I men's players in ****2025-26** with ****115+ threes** made while shooting at least **43%** from **3**.   
  
Prior to ****2025-26**, that stat combo had not been accomplished by ****any** ****player** since the ****2019-20** season.
