Note #006: Jake Hall (Freshman Flamethrower)
New Mexico basketball player and Mountain West Freshman of the Year Jake Hall explored the transfer portal after his first year with the Lobos, but elected to remain at the university for the 2026-27 season. As a freshman in 2025-26, Hall averaged 16.4 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 1.6 APG, and hit a remarkable 117 three-pointers.
The other three NCAA Division I men's players, since 1980-81, who averaged at least 16 PPG, 3 RPG, 1.5 APG, and hit 115+ threes in their freshman season:
Sorted by 3PM (descending)
Antoine Davis (2018-19) - 26.1 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 3.6 APG, 132/347 3P/3PA (38.0%)
Stephen Curry (2006-07) - 21.5 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 2.8 APG, 122/299 3P/3PA (40.8%)
Trae Young (2017-18) - 27.4 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 8.7 APG, 118/328 3P/3PA (36.0%)
Hall did have the best 3PT% of the bunch (117/267 = 43.8%), but on less volume.
Davis and Young also come up in Note #003, highlighting 2026 NBA Draft prospect Keaton Wagler.
Prior to 2025-26, that stat combo had not been accomplished by any player since the 2019-20 season.
