Note #015: Brant Byers (Three-Level Technician)
Former Miami (OH) basketball player Brant Byers, who teamed up with Eian Elmer and co. to put together an undefeated regular season for the RedHawks in 2025-26, recently committed to Penn State for the 2026-27 season.
As a sophomore in 2025-26, the 6'8" forward Byers averaged 14.2 PPG, 4.1 RPG, and shot 39.2% from 3 (69/176). Byers also attempted 163 free throws (4.8 FTA/G), making 78.5%.
The other three NCAA Division I men's basketball players to average at least 14 PPG, 4 RPG, shoot 39% or better from 3 (min. 175 3PA) and attempt 160+ free throws in 2025-26:

And since 1980-81, only three players besides Byers had their own sophomore season with the above shooting splits: 2018 NBA Draft 19th overall pick Kevin Huerter (2017-18), Marcus Burk (2017-18), and Ryan Conwell (2023-24).
Of those players listed above, Byers had the most FTA (163). The others:
