# Note #024: Gavin Doty (Siena Sophomore Ironman)

Former Siena guard **Gavin Doty** has decided to follow his coach, 2003 National Champion (as a player) Gerry McNamara, from the Saints to **Syracuse** for the 2026-27 season.

As a **sophomore** with Siena in **2025-26**, Doty was a workhorse, averaging **18.0 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 2.2 APG, 4.5 FT/G** in 36.8 MP/G.

**Since** **1947-48**, there have been **57** NCAA Division I men's **sophomores** to average at least **18** PPG, **6.5** RPG, **2** APG and **4.5** FT/G. 

Of those, **ten** shot **80+%** on those **FT** attempts. They are:

**155-175 FTA**  
1\. Bubba Wells (1994-95) - 19.3 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 2.0 APG, 4.6 FT/G, 83.0 FT% (132/159)  
2\. Tucker Neale (1992-92) - 21.9 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 2.3 APG, 5.0 FT/G, 81.5 FT% (141/173)

And for fun/because we can't resist, the **four** **sophomores** (out of the 57 earlier) who sustained the **PPG, RPG, APG, FT/G** benchmarks across **35+ GP** are:   
  
1\. Alec Burks (38 GP)  
**2\. Gavin Doty (35 GP)**  
3\. Blake Griffin (2008-09) - **22.7 PPG, 14.4 RPG**, 2.3 APG, 5.5 FT/G (35 GP)  
4\. Caleb Swanigan (2016-17) - 18.5 PPG, **12.5 RPG,** **3.1 APG**, 4.7 FT/G (35 GP)

And if we lower that threshold **one** game to **34+ GP**, Babbitt now enters along with:  
  
1\. Lionel Simmons (1987-88) - **23.3 PPG, 11.4 RPG**, 2.5 APG, **5.8 FT/G**   
2\. Caron Butler (2001-02) - **20.3 PPG**, 7.5 RPG, **3.0 APG**, 4.6 FT/G  
3\. Jerry Stackhouse (1994-95) - 19.2 PPG, **8.2 RPG**, 2.7 APG, 5.4 FT/G

Back to just the **10** free-throw marksmen **(80+%)** from before: let's note, Doty's **4.5 FT/G** was **56th** of the **57** qualified **sophomores**, and he was **46th** in **FTA** (183).   
  
Gomes was **40th** in **FTA** (194), Bird (200) was **32nd**. Maravich (338) and Burks (302) were **1st** and **3rd**, respectively. 

Doty was **57th PPG**, **t-46th RPG** (his **5.5 DRB/G** was **18th**), and he was   
**t-39th APG**. 

**Thirty-eight** of the 57 attempted a **3** \- of those that did, Doty was **one** of **seven** to average at least **1.3 3P/G** (46/141, **32.6%**).

There were ****18** NCAA Division I men's players (all classes) to average at least ****18 PPG** and ****6.5 RPG**.  
  
If we tack on ****2+ APG**, the list narrows to ****11**.  
  
Add ****4.5+ FT/G** as well, and we're down to ****eight**. Here they are (by class):
