Note #032: Mark Mitchell (Metric Milestones)

Former Duke and Missouri forward Mark Mitchell has declared for the 2026 NBA Draft following his 2025-26 senior season with the Tigers.

In 2025-26, the 6' 8" Mitchell posted the following shooting numbers:

  • 185/324 2P/2PA (57.1 2P%)
  • 19/49 3P/3PA (38.8 3P%)
  • 178/266 FT/FTA (66.9 FT%)

Since 1980-81, only four other NCAA Division I men's players have shot 57+ 2P% (min. 320 2PA) and 38+ 3P% (min. 45 3PA) with 265+ FTA in a single season like Mitchell:

Seniors
1. Hersey Hawkins Jr. (1987-88) - 290/499 2P/2PA (58.1%), 87/221 3P/3PA (39.4%), 284/335 FT/FTA (84.8%)
2. Jaedon Ledee (2023-24) - 243/425 2P/2PA (57.2%), 20/45 3P/3PA (44.4%), 226/308 FT/FTA (73.4%)

Juniors
3. Ike Diogu (2004-05) - 211/353 2P/2PA (59.8%), 18/45 3P/3PA (40.0%), 248/311 FT/FTA (79.7%)

Freshmen
4. Cameron Boozer (2025-26) - 236/384 2P/2PA (61.5%), 54/138 3P/3PA (39.1%), 221/280 FT/FTA (78.9%)

Hawkins Jr. was the sixth overall pick in the 1988 NBA Draft. Diogu went ninth overall in 2005.

Boozer, who will simply not go away (all references), is also a 2026 NBA Draft prospect like Mitchell.

Now, if we remove FTs entirely, there have been 43 (including the five above) since 1980-81 to hit the 2P and 3P baselines.

Mitchell was one of twenty seniors to do it, Boozer one of just three freshmen. For fun, the other two:

1. Marvin Bagley III (2017-18) - 247/382 2P/2PA (64.7%), 23/58 3P/3PA (39.7%)
2. TJ Leaf (2016-17) - 208/323 2P/2PA (64.4%), 27/58 3P/3PA (46.6%)

Mitchell
and Boozer were the only two players in 2025-26 to meet these 2P and 3P thresholds.

Bagley III and Leaf both appear in Note #031 on Jamier Jones.
