Note #036: Koa Peat (Frontcourt Enforcer)

Former Arizona big man Koa Peat has declared for the 2026 NBA Draft after his 2025-26 freshman season with the Wildcats.

In 2025-26, Peat produced the following per game numbers (across 36 GP, 27.8 MP/G) to help the 'Cats reach their first Final Four since 2001:

  • 14.1 PPG
  • 5.6 RPG
  • 2.6 APG
  • 0.6 SPG
  • 0.7 BPG
  • 5.6 FG/G
  • 4.5 FTA/G

Since 1947-48, only nine NCAA Division I men's players (including Peat) have averaged at least 14 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 2.5 APG, 0.5 SPG, 0.5 BPG. 5.5 FG/G, 4.5 FTA/G in their freshman season (min. 30 GP). Here are the other eight:

15-17 PPG
1. Dedric Lawson (2015-16) - 15.8 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1.2 SPG, 1.7 BPG, 5.5 FG/G, 5.5 FTA/G (33 GP, 32.2 MP/G)
2. Bonzi Wells (1994-95) - 15.8 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 2.8 APG, 2.8 SPG, 0.6 BPG, 5.9 FG/G, 4.7 FTA/G (30 GP, 29.6 MP/G)
3. Josh Jackson (2016-17) - 16.3 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 3.0 APG, 1.7 SPG, 1.1 BPG, 6.3 FG/G, 4.9 FTA/G (35 GP, 30.8 MP/G)

17-19 PPG
4. Paolo Banchero (2021-22) - 17.2 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 3.2 APG, 1.1 SPG, 0.9 BPG, 6.3 FG/G, 4.8 FTA/G (39 GP, 33 MP/G)
5. Jonathan Rodriguez (2006-07) - 17.3 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 3.0 APG, 1.5 SPG, 1.1 BPG, 5.9 FG/G, 6.7 FTA/G (31 GP, 33.2 MP/G)

19-20 PPG
6. Ben Simmons (2015-16) - 19.2 PPG, 11.8 RPG, 4.8 APG, 2.0 SPG, 0.8 BPG, 6.5 FG/G, 9.0 FTA/G (33 GP, 34.9 MP/G)
7. Cooper Flagg (2024-25) - 19.2 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 4.2 APG, 1.4 SPG, 1.4 BPG, 6.5 FG/G, 5.8 FTA/G (37 GP, 30.7 MP/G)

20+ PPG
8. Cameron Boozer (2025-26) - 22.5 PPG, 10.2 RPG, 4.1 APG, 1.4 SPG, 0.6 BPG, 7.6 FG/G, 7.4 FTA/G (38 GP, 33.4 MP/G)

Flagg and Boozer met the above thresholds in back-to-back seasons at Duke. Banchero also played for the Blue Devils.

Now, if we remove the min. GP threshold, five more freshman enter the fold:

16-18 PPG
1. C.J. Anderson (2004-05) - 16.1 PPG, 8.6 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.5 SPG, 1.3 BPG, 6.2 FG/G, 6.6 FTA/G (28 GP, 34.4 MP/G)
2. Felipe Lopez (1994-95) - 17.8 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.5 SPG, 0.5 BPG, 5.9 FG/G, 6.2 FTA/G (28 GP, 34.5 MP/G)

18-20 PPG
3. Caleb Wilson (2025-26) - 19.8 PPG, 9.4 RPG, 2.7 APG, 1.5 SPG, 1.4 BPG, 7.1 FG/G, 7.5 FTA/G (24 GP, 31.3 MP/G)

20+ PPG
4. Cade Cunningham (2021-22) - 20.1 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 3.5 APG, 1.6 SPG, 0.8 BPG, 6.5 FG/G, 5.8 FTA/G (27 GP, 35.4 MP/G)
5. Markelle Fultz (2016-17) - 23.2 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 5.9 APG, 1.6 SPG, 1.2 BPG, 8.4 FG/G, 6.7 FTA/G (25 GP, 35.7 MP/G)

If we remove FG/G and FTA/G entirely, Peat, Boozer, and Wilson remain the only freshman in 2025-26 to average 14+ PPG, 5.5+ RPG, 2.5+ APG, 0.5+ SPG, 0.5+ BPG. If we remove BPG too, another freshman enters:

AJ Dybantsa - 25.5 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 3.7 APG, 1.1 SPG (35 GP, 34.8 MP/G)

Dybantsa, like Peat, Boozer, and Wilson, also declared for the 2026 NBA Draft.

Fifth mention for Simmons!
Note #003 / Note #010 / Note #020 / Note #033

Flagg was also mentioned in the Wagler Note (#003), and Note #026 on Marquette's own Nolan Minessale.

Wilson is a wrecking ball:
Note #004 / Note #018 / Note #020 / Note #024

And finally: Fultz flashes in Wagler, plus Note #008 (Acaden Lewis) and Note #010 (Alex Wilkins).
