Note #045: Otega Oweh (Junior & Senior Analysis)

Oklahoma-turned-Kentucky guard Otega Oweh has entered the 2026 NBA Draft following his 2025-26 senior season in Lexington.

In 2025-26, his second year as a Wildcat (following two with the Sooners), Oweh wowed in 36 GP (32.8 MP/G) with:

  • 18.6 PPG
  • 4.8 RPG
  • 2.7 APG
  • 1.8 SPG

That season, there were just nine NCAA Division I men's players (including Oweh) to average at least 18.5 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 2.5 APG, and 1.5 SPG. The other eight:

18.5-19.5 PPG
1. Javontae Campbell - 18.7 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 5.1 APG, 3.0 SPG (32 GP, 34.1 MP/G)
2. Rowan Brumbaugh - 19.2 PPG, 4.9 RPG, 3.5 APG, 1.6 SPG (33 GP, 36.1 MP/G)
3. Chaze Harris - 19.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 4.9 APG, 1.6 SPG (33 GP, 31.8 MP/G)

19.5-20 PPG
4. Kahmare Holmes - 19.5 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 2.7 APG, 2.0 SPG (26 GP, 31.9 MP/G)
5. Nolan Minessale - 19.8 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 4.3 APG, 1.6 SPG (34 GP, 31.1 MP/G)
6. Caleb Wilson - 19.8 PPG, 9.4 RPG, 2.7 APG, 1.5 SPG (24 GP, 31.3 MP/G)

20+ PPG
7. Dontae Horne - 20.1 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 2.9 APG, 1.9 SPG (37 GP, 32.2 MP/G)
8. Jordan Riley - 23.6 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1.9 SPG (30 GP, 37.8 MP/G)

Oweh was one of five seniors above. Wilson, an anticipatory top five 2026 NBA Draft pick, was the only freshman.

Campbell conquered Note #039 (Kingston Flemings) and Note #042 (Tamin Lipsey).

Riley reigned in Note #030 (Christian Bliss).

Okay, let's burrow further into Oweh's 2025-26 scoring:

  • 5.3 2P/G
  • 1.3 3P/G
  • 6.0 FTA/G
  • 46.5 FG%

Nine others in 2025-26 put up 5+ 2P/G, 1+ 3P/G, 6+ FTA/G, 46.5+ FG% and 73+ FT% (see Oweh's FT #s above). There was only one other senior besides Oweh:

Nick Martinelli - 6.8 2P/G, 1.4 3P/G, 6.7 FTA/G, 51.0 FG% (268/526), 80.9 FT% (178/220)

The other eight players:

6-7 FG/G
1. Paulius Murauskas - 5.0 2P/G, 1.1 3P/G, 6.1 FTA/G, 48.2 FG% (201/417), 84.0 FT% (168/200)
2. Money Williams - 5.2 2P/G, 1.4 3P/G, 6.9 FTA/G, 49.3 FG% (225/456), 85.5 FT% (200/234)
3. Nolan Minessale - 5.4 2P/G, 1.3 3P/G, 6.8 FTA/G, 50.6 FG% (228/451), 75.0 FT% (174/232)

7-8 FG/G
4. Dior Johnson - 6.0 2P/G, 1.4 3P/G, 9.3 FTA/G, 51.8 FG% (147/284), 84.9 FT% (158/186)
5. Ebuka Okorie - 5.5 2P/G, 2.0 3P/G, 7.3 FTA/G, 46.5 FG% (234/503), 83.2 FT% (188/226)
6. Cameron Boozer - 6.2 2P/G, 1.4 3P/G, 7.4 FTA/G, 55.6 FG% (290/522), 78.9 FT% (221/280)

8+ FG/G

7. Darius Acuff Jr. - 5.5 2P/G, 2.5 3P/G, 6.1 FTA/G, 48.4 FG% (288/595), 80.9 FT% (178/220)
8. AJ Dybantsa - 7.4 2P/G, 1.4 3P/G, 8.5 FTA/G, 51.0 FG% (308/604), 77.4 FT% (229/296)

All above played 31+ GP except Johnson (only 20 GP).

Martinelli, a potential 2026 NBA Draft selection, made his debut in Note #039 on Flemings (a definite 2026 NBA Draft selection).

Murauskas made Note #024 on the Cuse's Gavin Doty.

🏀
Gear up for Oweh's 2025-26 shooting:

189/368 2P/2PA (51.4 2P%), 45/135 3P/3PA (33.3 3P%), 158/216 FT/FTA (73.1 FT%)

There were only two players besides Oweh in 2025-26 to shoot 51+ 2P% (min. 365 2PA), 33+ 3P% (min. 135 3PA), 73+ FT% (min. 215 FTA), and both were freshmen from earlier:

1. Cameron Boozer - 236/384 2P/2PA (61.5%), 54/138 3P/3PA (39.1%), 221/280 FT/FTA (78.9%)
2. AJ Dybantsa - 259/456 2P/2PA (56.8%), 49/148 3P/3PA (33.1%), 229/296 FT/FTA (77.4%)

There have been 17 other NCAA DI players besides Oweh, Boozer, and Dybantsa, since 1980-81, to meet those shooting thresholds in a single season.

Of those 20 total, Oweh was one of 12 seniors. Boozer and Dybantsa are the only freshmen to hit those marks in the last 45+ years!

For fun I, the two sophomores to do it:

1. Ja Morant (2018-19) - 208/374 2P/2PA (55.6%), 57/157 3P/3PA (36.3%), 221/272 FT/FTA (81.3%)
2. Alphonso Ford (1990-91) - 239/408 2P/2PA (58.6%), 86/260 3P/3PA (33.1%), 179/234 FT/FTA (76.5%)

And the four juniors:

1. Steve Rogers (1990-91) - 217/399 2P/2PA (54.4%), 56/147 3P/3PA (38.1%), 250/332 FT/FTA (75.3%)
2. Todd Day (1990-91) - 210/397 2P/2PA (52.9%), 67/189 3P/3PA (35.4%), 165/221 FT/FTA (74.7%)
3. Adam Morrison (2005-06) - 232/444 2P/2PA (52.3%), 74/173 3P/3PA (42.8%), 240/311 FT/FTA (77.2%)
4. Glenn Robinson (1993-94) - 289/554 2P/2PA (52.2%), 79/208 3P/3PA (38.0%), 215/270 FT/FTA (79.6%)

FWIW (not sure WIW), the three to reach those baselines in 1990-91 (Ford - MVSU, Rogers - Alabama St., Day - Arkansas) were all located within a ~13,500 square mile area?? Per Britannica, the United States is 3,800,000 square miles.

MVSU and Alabama St., both members of the SWAC, met three times that season.

And, for fun II, here are the 11 seniors besides Oweh to reach those 2P/3P/FT baselines since 1980-81:

500-550 FGA
1. Tony Dunkin (1992-93) - 199/370 2P/2PA (53.8%), 64/136 3P/3PA (47.1%), 169/216 FT/FTA (78.2%)
2. Nick Mayo (2018-19) - 191/367 2P/2PA (52.0%), 54/163 3P/3PA (33.1%), 190/220 FT/FTA (86.4%)
3. Tyler Haws (2014-15) - 204/391 2P/2PA (52.2%), 54/147 3P/3PA (36.7%), 206/236 FT/FTA (87.3%)
4. Jordan Davis (2018-19) - 202/390 2P/2PA (51.8%), 54/150 3P/3PA (36.0%), 186/231 FT/FTA (80.5%)
5. Isaiah Rider Jr. (1992-93) - 227/411 2P/2PA (55.2%), 55/137 3P/3PA (40.1%), 195/236 FT/FTA (82.6%)

550-600 FGA
6. Mike Daum (2018-19) - 219/378 2P/2PA (57.9%), 67/181 3P/3PA (37.0%), 196/234 FT/FTA (83.8%)
7. Marshon Brooks (2010-11) - 209/374 2P/2PA (55.9%), 67/197 3P/3PA (34.0%), 169/219 FT/FTA (77.2%)
8. Brett Roberts (1991-92) - 212/410 2P/2PA (51.7%), 66/170 3P/3PA (38.8%), 193/219 FT/FTA (88.1%)

600-700 FGA
9. Dennis Hopson (1986-87) - 271/493 2P/2PA (55.0%), 67/160 3P/3PA (41.9%), 215/264 FT/FTA (81.4%)

700+ FGA
10. Hersey Hawkins Jr. (1987-88) - 290/499 2P/2PA (58.1%), 87/221 3P/3PA (39.4%), 284/335 FT/FTA (84.8%)
11. Bo Kimble (1989-90) - 312/563 2P/2PA (55.4%), 92/200 3P/3PA (46.0%!), 231/268 FT/FTA (86.2%)

You can find Ford in Note #040 on Ebuka Okorie, and Dunkin in Note #033 on Michael Ajayi.

Mayo made Note #018 on Florida's Thomas Haugh, as did Brooks.

Roberts registered in Note #039 on Kingston Flemings.

This is kids play for Kimble:
Note #034 (Jaylin Sellers) / Note #039 (Flemings) / Note #040 (Okorie)

🏀 🏀 This beast of a breakdown calls for (at least) a Lemmon Labs Triple-Double Note!

Anyway, as a junior in 2024-25 for Kentucky, Oweh averaged:

16.2 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.6 SPG, 0.5 BPG (36 GP, 28.3 MP/G)

Since 1947-48, only five other NCAA DI men's players besides Oweh have averaged at least 16 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 1.5 APG, 1.5 SPG, 0.5 BPG in 28.5 MP/G or less (min. 30 GP). They are:

16-16.5 PPG
1. Paul Pierce (1996-97) - 16.3 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 2.1 APG, 1.7 SPG, 0.8 BPG (36 GP, 28.1 MP/G)

16.5-17 PPG
2. DeMarre Carroll (2008-09) - 16.6 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 2.2 APG, 1.6 SPG, 0.7 BPG (38 GP, 28.0 MP/G)
3. Tony Delk (1993-94) - 16.6 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.9 SPG, 0.6 BPG (34 GP, 28.1 MP/G)
4. Rick Fox (1990-91) - 16.9 PPG, 6.6 RPG, 3.7 APG, 2.0 SPG, 0.5 BPG (35 GP, 28.5 MP/G)

17+ PPG
5. Marcus Faison (1999-00) - 17.3 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 2.4 APG, 2.1 SPG, 0.5 BPG (33 GP, 26.4 MP/G)

All above but Faison were first round NBA Draft Picks.

Tony Delk (16th overall in 1996), who along with Paul Pierce (10th overall in 1998) are the only sophomores to register the above, played for Kentucky like Oweh.

In 2024-25, there were five other NCAA DI men's players besides Oweh to average 16+ PPG, 4.5+ RPG, 1.5+ APG, 1.5+ SPG, 0.5+ BPG (min. 30 GP):

16-17 PPG
1. Collin Murray-Boyles - 16.8 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.5 SPG, 1.3 BPG (32 GP, 30.6 MP/G)
2. Michael Rataj - 16.9 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.6 SPG, 0.6 BPG (32 GP, 32.4 MP/G)

17-18 PPG
3. Micah Peavy - 17.2 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 3.6 APG, 2.3 SPG, 0.5 BPG (32 GP, 37.0 MP/G)
4. Yaxel Lendeborg - 17.7 PPG, 11.4 RPG, 4.2 APG, 1.7 SPG, 1.8 BPG (37 GP, 33.6 MP/G)

18+ PPG
5. Amarri Monroe - 18.1 PPG, 9.1 RPG, 1.6 APG, 2.3 SPG, 0.8 BPG (32 GP, 32.9 MP/G)

Lendeborg, like Oweh, is a 2026 NBA Draft declarant.

Yaxel yet again:
Note #033 (Michael Ajayi) / Note #035 (Aaron Nkrumah) / Note #044 (Trevon Brazile)

⛚ī¸â€â™‚ī¸ Working title for this new Note-type: a Quadruple-Double!

Anyway, onto Oweh's junior 2024-25 shooting splits:

177/339 2P/2PA (52.2 2P%), 27/76 3P/3PA (35.5 3P%), 149/192 FT/FTA (77.6 FT%)

Since 1980-81, there have been eight NCAA DI men's players (including Oweh) to shoot 52+ 2P% (min. 335 2PA), 35.5+ 3P% (min. 75 3PA), and 77.5+ FT% (min. 190 FTA) in their junior season.

Here are the non-Oweh seven:

400-500 FGA
1. Sean Elliott (1987-88) - 222/374 2P/2PA (59.4%), 41/87 3P/3PA (47.1%), 176/222 FT/FTA (79.3%)

500-600 FGA
2. Doug McDermott (2012-13) - 207/361 2P/2PA (57.3%), 77/157 3P/3PA (49.0%), 189/216 FT/FTA (87.5%)
3. Ryan Minor (1994-95) - 191/359 2P/2PA (53.2%), 69/176 3P/3PA (39.2%), 167/203 FT/FTA (82.3%)
4. Joe Jakubick (1982-83) - 243/458 2P/2PA (53.1%), 53/127 3P/3PA (41.7%), 182/228 FT/FTA (79.8%)

600-700 FGA
5. Terrell Lowery (1990-91) - 195/364 2P/2PA (53.6%), 103/257 3P/3PA (40.1%), 185/231 FT/FTA (80.1%)

700+ FGA
6. Marcus Keene (2016-17) - 188/360 2P/2PA (52.2%), 125/340 3P/3PA (36.8%), 208/254 FT/FTA (81.9%)
7. Glenn Robinson (1993-94) - 289/554 2P/2PA (52.2%), 79/208 3P/3PA (38.0%), 215/270 FT/FTA (79.6%)

Digging deeper into the junior scoring, Oweh also tallied:

4.5 2P/G, 0.8 3P/G, 5.3 FTA/G, 49.2 FG%

There were nine players that season to meet the 4.5+ 2P/G, 0.5+ 3P/G, 5+ FTA/G, 49+ FG%, 77.5+ FT% criteria, including the junior Oweh. The other three juniors to do so:

1. Bennett Stirtz - 4.8 2P/G, 1.8 3P/G, 5.1 FTA/G, 49.8 FG% (233/468), 79.4 FT% (143/180)
2. Brian Moore Jr. - 5.8 2P/G, 0.8 3P/G, 5.1 FTA/G, 54.5 FG% (230/422), 81.5 FT% (145/178)
3. Donovan Dent - 6.5 2P/G, 0.8 3P/G, 6.5 FTA/G, 49.0 FG% (255/520), 78.4 FT% (178/227)

Elliot's entrance was Note #033 on Michael Ajayi, and Lowery landed in Note #028 on Christian Anderson.

Stirtz, a 2026 Draft entrant like Ajayi and Anderson, struck in Note #030 on MP/G king Christian Bliss.
